Our trip ends making our way to Austin to winterize our van. Disappointed we missed a visit in Houston with Tom and Audrey (next time!) we returned to the most rain we’d seen on our entire trip.

The Boliver ferry, a free ferry line running since the 1930’s, connects Galveston from the east and provides free entertainment feeding the seagulls from the stern.

An unplanned stop in Sweet Home, Tx was a great way to end our trip visiting with Judy and Ron Skipper. I love how my sister, Judy, says something she thinks is funny and then start laughing at her own joke with such ferver everyone gets caught up in it. Within seconds the entire room explodes into fits of belly laughter. (And her husband Ron is a chef extraodinaire)
No trip to Hallettsville is complete with picking up some Klobasniky (Pigs in the Blanket to you non Czech folk) and Kolaches from the Kountry Bakery. We picked up 2 dozen to take to Arizona (yes, Preston has some Czech blood and these are his favorite!).

Thanksgiving and a little time in Gilbert, AZ on the way back to WA was a great trip conclusion. Hiking the Mormon trail and Fat Man’s Pass in the Ahwatukee foothills proved to be just the right thing to do after a food filled weekend. Hope everyone had a great Tday and a fun filled Holiday season to come!
What an amazing journey!
Welcome home to cold, rain and snow!
You did miss some nice fall weather.
I look forward to hearing about all your adventures!
I liked the Fat Man’s pass, very funny!
